Saturday night
Dear Lucas -
I send you the newspapers account of your Hampd Heath - it is a pity you would not let me see this wretched business before you sent it hence. but this is going to a woman of the town - it would not be known but for the ''Result'' -
You cannot fail of being hurt by it - for it is of the utmost value to any man that his reputation be without alloy. now the publick can say ''D. Lucas is capable [^] doing such a print as this'' - this [?} not be said - of us all if possible - see what I have allowed the ''Criticks'' to say of me - and with truth -
Pray get on - I want to see a little more done today to the [Girl?*] - so that I can look at it - but no more than you can afford for nothing - so with the [t/n: 'Castl' crossed out] Ruin which you must make a fine thing -
I want all the acct of printing - [with?] the last matters so as to close the Old concern where we draw the line -
and then I will for the [t/n: word deleted] condemned plates at leisure -
only let me [?] the [??] wholly - the coloured prints are not quite right but they can wait -
Make the ''Ruin'' & large as the ''Castle''
Yours J.C -
