Dear Lucas
I shall be here tomorrow Evg at 8 . or about to sleep & go to Suffolk on thursday - to attend the last scene of poor John Dunthorne - but he ''fought a good fight'' and must have left the World with as few regrets as any man of his age I ever mett with - his poor father has been here today - is gone back - he is entirely broken hearted - he was so proud of him and well he might be so.
Do not cutt the plate of the New Sarum - yet - I have touch another proof to dry and it looks so well I think you may like it -& perhaps we may adopt it. I did it in seeing poor J Dunthorne's rainbow this morning.
Will you remember to see for the Old Sarum on English paper - to make that sett good.
and also those of the four setts in colors -
surely it will be right to print some more Indias - we will talk about it - if We can avoid a new plate so much the better /perhaps/ - but they liked the Stonehenge - I mean Leslie and Lardner - the gentleman who lectured on it [t/n: word deleted] try to prove it it antideluvian - & the arguments are as good towards its development - befor as after the flood - for nothing is known - still the thing was ingenious - Yours truly
                                                                                                                           John Constable
