The leaf has been numbered S166, referring to the order in Shirley's publication. \n\nTRANSCRIPT:\n\n---\n6 [?]\n6 [?]\n\nFor\n    Mr Lucas -\n27 Westbourne Street\n\nV                                                                                                 June 30 1835\nDear Lucas\n                  I have sent Joseph to you to say - that I should be glad if you will leave the plate here - a day or two -\n          Leslie is so much impressed with the proof that he would give any thing to possess one - So am  - I - and would give any thing to possess two at least ----- now - would you mind printing a few - 4 or 5 or 6 - - would it hurt the plate. I know you do not like to do so - but I would gladly pass all experience - it never can or will be [t\/n: 'so' crossed out] grander than it is now - it is - awfully so - you shall be amply paid for this indulgence -\n                                                                                                                                            Yours truly\n                                                                                                                                             John Constable\nI do think with you it is well to stay your hand with my works. when those large ones are all done - and [t\/n: stay' crossed out] pause for some time - and if you turn your hand to a whole length or so - it may be advisable - let -that branch of art - should be shut out from you and your forming a connection that way - be cut off - or forgotten -\n                                                                                                                                           Yours truly J.
