Dear Lucas
I am sorry that I should have missed you there - My Brother was in London yesterday he says the Oil he is certain is as pure as the seed can produce it - my brother has paid Mr Harris* for it.
There are 6 Gallon & 1 pt [t/n: pint] in the cask which at 4 shillings per Gall: comes to
The Oil £ 1 . 4 . 6
The Cask . 4 . 6

-------------------
If the Cask is returned the 4 . 6 is allowed by Mr Harris
The Picture is not yet - are you likely to come by daylight tomorrow or next day - perhaps it goes this week.
I dine out today - tomorrow Evg is the last lecture at the R.A. where perhaps I may go -
Mr Fittler** A.R.A. is dead.
How much I wish for more of the past state of Salisbury - it is now too late : de Wint wants one so does Mr Seguier -
I wish much to see you and hope you are not kept away by illness - Mr Tomlinson*** tells me that [t/n: 'Moon' crossed out] a certain publisher is not to be believed on his oath.
Abram Constable was here yesterday - John and me dine at Flatford on X'mas day - within stone cast of the Old House - ''/ Billy Lotts /'':
Old Mr Dunthorne - quite well.

When shall I see another proof of Salisbury - it will far exceed all other mezzotintos - de Wint says not to chill it too much - but he does not know our way - he meant deep - heavy etching.
Did some Birmingham Galleries call - about a [hunting?] picture -
Yours very truly
John Constable
