The published transcript of leaf 2 can be found in Shirley (No. 184, page 137) and Beckett (Appendix C, No. XI, page 4567.The leaves have been numbered S183 and S184 respectively, referring to the order in Shirley's publication. Pencil inscriptions on the top read \u2018Nov. 1836'.\n\nTRANSCRIPT:\n\n---\n<leaf 1>\n                                                 - Parts touched or Worked on with this proof -\nSky\nlight clouds put in at top on the left. flying & detached.\n\n(do - in top of the Great Cloud (seen through the flying dark bits) so as to heighten the great Cloud.\n\nLightening to the left a little more broad light diffused over it so as to show the dark clou's edges\n\nNoble shower dropping from the Main Cloud - connecting the West End. with the main light on the Horizon to the extreme right\n\nLight put down a little between the trees at the bottom of the garden of the large white House.\n\na little Cloud up to the West End & over the Roof - of the Cathedral.\n\n- West End - & Cathedral &c greatly increased in splendour - & the petite work must be destroyed to enrich it & increase the size.\n\nLight on tower subdued - and also the bright light on North transept.\n\nAll the lights on Meadow and West End - trees - &c &c - &c increased to make the mass. (dark patch softened under W.E.\n\nHorses bright off - by making willows light & ''mass - also wheels & waggon looked to - also whole of white Horse - cleaned & lightened & broader -\n\nWater much alivened - by darkening the main light - & bringing the light near the post - so as to make a point - & to graduate from - stump well lighted at edges - man & boat improved.\n\nWillow that grows on the rails is much improved by bringing it off light on darkened water.\n\nLight on posts - & rails - & making a good angle line - to assist by its diagonal - the level - or horizontal line of meadow water &c &c -\n\nWater up to foot of dark posts attended to carefully -\n\nhead of said post - cleared off - the light water sharply\n\nplants & sedges attended to \n\ndog enrich & a light on the water brought near to his head or beyond his nose.\n\nfamous alteration of plants on the left - particularly attended to - they consist of brambles [t\/n: 'on' deleted] running over high grass & - mixed in with plantains. \n\npath with dog much improved\n\nmuch improved about old woman - the bank & post.\n\nalso on the water over her to the left - & about the old Cow her horns & nose -\n\nlight on the Cottage Gable half put out at least -\n\nChurch tower much bettered by the low flat tone -\n\ntrees about 'arse end' of the waggon much put down - & at foot of ash. also about the gardeners ''shitten house'' - so as to clear the edge of the waggon well off - & also head rail & man Arm well divided to ensure that main point [.] water enriched - & more lights & darks. Constable\n\n<leaf 2>\nI took the Proof out of frame again - to add to the above remarks -\n    Still more brilliancy on the Willows over the horses - and about the boat & man - both of which are more distinct - as well as the [team?] horses - & light on collars\nthe waggon tail more sharp off. the wheels better draw & clearer.
