TRANSCRIPT: --- 9 Decr 1836 Dear Lucas I hope you agree with me that the last proof* I sent you is most effective? You did not say how far you agreed with or how far you liked it - pray do not do anything against your own judgement or opinion - I will call when you like - & as soon as you please next week - tomorrow I am going to poor Westalls* funeral - and on Monday (pig-mouth) Harrison will be with - this is a name my boys have given him - we had a letter last Monday [t/n: 'from' deleted] from my sailor - his ship weathered the gale at the Nore - he gives a fearfull account of all that he saw arrived disastrous to a degree perhaps you will get the plate to another proof before you see me - I am anxious what you think of the flash of lightning over the north transept over the trees - being made of more account it looks grand - & glooms the rest - of the dell &c.
