The published transcript of this letter can be found in Shirley (No. 128, page 97) and Beckett (page 388 &amp; Appendix C, No. 10, page 456). The leaf has been numbered S128, referring to the order in Shirley's publication.

       large Canal - perhaps the boat sail too light.

2    Summer Morg - foreground much too light in mass -
    x Summer Evng - nothing .
       Dell ------            Cow to be made a stag
       Heath ---------     left hand corner of sky - at top - lighter -

3  x Yarmouth -   nothing
       Brighton --- [t/n: 'fisher' deleted] man at his nett made out - sky &amp;c.
       Flatford Mill Stream - nothing
       Head of Lock - nothing

4  x Summerland      nothing
    x Old Sarum         nothing
    x Stoke --              nothing
    x Dedham Mill    - nothing - (but to be altered in comp. a proof sent touched)

5  x Weymouth -       nothing
       Red Hill   -         more breadth of light top right hand corner.
                                - or the little light put down - to flat the post
       Glebe farm  -     Cow put down - &amp; a little Cloud also.
                                 and a bit of the Road under Cow.
       Castle ----- ------ a proof sent touched a good deal

Dear Lucas
                 I send you this list which I wrote as I touched a fine sett of the India Proofs - much very much further - the Castle will take a quarter an hour - it is the least finished of all the plates. But it has more work - &amp; is the best plate, but its general effect is so imperfect - 
                                                                     We must meet before some of these are printed - &amp; I must touch them from the proofs. Pray keep this list - as it will remind me -
