Claude - the same weakness comes over his Landscape that it did over his figures and it was natural enough that it should - his mind &amp; powers - weakened by time age &amp; wear &amp; tear - he tried feeling this - to make up - in the one by an abundance of figures - &amp; in the other his Landscape - by grandeur of conception &amp; composition - to be a more historical Landscape painter - like the Poussins - and it must be confessed he succeeded in the latter - Landscape better than in the former figures - &amp; might have been expected - as the Doria - the Altieri - &amp;c &amp;c &amp;c but still it was his black &amp; green manner - no longer did he paint - the ''light'' - that an appointed light [.] Hail Holy light - &amp; &amp; &amp; - St Ursula - middle tint.
