TRANSCRIPT: --- 12 Pine Apple Place Saturday My dear Sir/ Mr Carpenter of Bond St who will, I believe, undertake the publication of the ''Life of Constable'' himself, wishes to know what would be your charge for engraving the portrait of Mr Constable which I showed you some time ago.- The size will be about 6 inches by 5 & there will be [?] the head & shoulders, a plain background, & no hand. - Will you oblige me by an immediate answer to this question? - Can you also tell me when Me Constable painted his second picture of the Large Lock you engraved? Your plate was, I believe, [t/n: word crossed out] from the one Mr [?] bought but there was another picture of the same size sold by [?] - I wished to know whether this was painted immediately after the other, as would seem to be the case by one of Mr Constable's letters I shall be glad to see you any evening except Tuesday nect ; but do not on any account come until you feel quite well.
