Should like to have the works mentioned in it if they are in such a state as that with rebinding or otherwise, they may be made fit to go into a Library of well bound books -. I observe you mention that the cover & 2 pages of the Landscape are damaged, but this probably may be set to right by a bookbinder.\n        I believe I mentioned to you that I have already two copies by me of the ''English Landscape'' - or I should have been glad to have had your set of Proofs - [t\/n: 'I have not known' crossed out] I should like to keep the two Salisburys, the scene with White horse in a barge, & the Abbey scene (which appears to be an adaptation of the Glebe farm subject) - Let me know the price of these each.\n   I also wish to have a good impression of the Windmill, of the Boats, and the London Bridge; I think the sky of the Windmill sent is too dark; ''the boats'' not a good impression, nor the London Bridge - There is also a spotting  in the sky of the Salisbury with the rainbows which seems to me to be the result of damp - if you could get me a better one I should prefer it - I return these with the proofs in order that you may try & send me better impressions - I think Constables Etching a poor production, & should not feel disposed to give 12\/- for it tho' it may be scarce.\n            I am going from home to stay for a week into Straffordshire - & since writing the above it had occurred to me that if I retain the set of proofs for a short time I may, perhaps, on my return, be enabled to find you a purchaser for them, but I cannot promise that I shall succeed in doing so.\n            Please do try to obtain me better impressions of these plates I have mentioned above as not being quite what I like - at the same time send me the price of each, and I can then ascertain what I am in your debt - & will then remit it to you.\n                                                                       I am dear Sir\n                                                                                          Yours truly\n                                                                                                  William Taunton\n\nI retain the Pair of upright landscapes at \u00a3 8 . 0 0\n3 Plates of 2nd Series -------------------------  -   15. 0\nHadleigh Castle ------------------------------------    12 .\n\nWere not the plates of the ''English Landscape'' originally interspersed with observations, in letter press, on Landscape Painting by Mr Constable? If so where could I meet with these?\n\n---"}]},"identifier":[{"accession_number":"Constable\/EL\/1\/7\/1","primary":true,"type":"accession number","value":"Constable\/EL\/1\/7\/1"},{"priref":"110009951","type":"priref","value":"110009951"},{"type":"uri","uri":"https:\/\/data.fitzmuseum.cam.ac.uk\/id\/object\/110009951","value":"https:\/\/data.fitzmuseum.cam.ac.uk\/id\/object\/110009951"}],"institutions":[{"@link":{"type":"reference"},"admin":{"id":"agent-149638","uid":"adlib-agent-149638","uuid":"7376d833-d0a7-3be0-916e-9c892b7a24d8"},"summary_title":"The Fitzwilliam Museum"}],"lifecycle":{"creation":[{"maker":[{"@link":{"type":"reference"},"admin":{"id":"agent-133113","uid":"adlib-agent-133113","uuid":"5db0db56-a16d-371a-a022-22dda2d9b899"},"summary_title":"Taunton, W."}]}]},"measurements":{"dimensions":[{"dimension":"Length","units":"mm","value":"252"},{"dimension":"Width","units":"mm","value":"201"}]},"summary_title":"MS Letter, Taunton to Lucas","title":[{"value":"MS Letter, Taunton to Lucas"}],"type":{"base":"object","type":"OBJECT"}}
