John Charrington Esq
              The Grange
                      Shenley
                           Herts

Dear Sir
I am exceedingly obliged for your very courteous letter of 15th [?], and need hardly say shall be very pleased indeed to receive copies of the letters that were with the Theobald collection re ''The English Landscapes'' which I shall esteem highly, and carefully preserve for reference purposes.
The treatment of the translations of [whom?] is a highly interesting one in connection with mezzotinting, and on that account I look forward with very keen interest to Constable's correspondence with David Lucas.
My Rembrandt mezzotint arrived yesterday in good order, and I shall endeavour to see in a day or so Miss Drummond Young and Watson, Photographers 82 George Street, Edinburgh as to photographing it and sending the negative to you as a gift. Should I at any time come across a proof of my Rembrandt, I shall only be too happy to send it to you also as a gift.
I am still making further enquiry in several directions regarding ''Rembrandts' Marriage'' and hope in the course of a week or so to let you know the result of my search.
The Catalogue of ''The Complete Works of David Lucas'' you have so kindly sent I shall peruse with much interest, and return to you in the course of a week under registered cover to insure delivery.
In reference to the Scottish Print Club it may interest you to know that Mr James [?] (who has a fine collection of prints) and I were asked by the Committee to supervise the mezzotint section which we carried out with much pleasure. It was a most interesting show and greatly appreciated by art lovers of the Graphic cuts. I had on exhibitions a number of prints.
It is about ten years since I was in London, and when I visit it again I shall be delighted to call upon your friend Mr Ernest Leggatt as you kindly suggest, and have a chat about art matters.
                                                                     Believe me, Dear Sir,
                                                                     Yours very truly
                                                                     James Brownlee Hunter
