The leaf has been numbered 23 in the upper right-hand corner according to chronology and its order in the volume.  \n\nBront\u00eb thanks Miss Wooler for an invitation but cannot join her currently as she is expecting a visit from Elizabeth Gaskell. Gaskell was to have visited in June but was not able to when Bront\u00eb fell ill with influenza.
