The letter is 1 leaf (bifold) and mounted in the volume. The leaf has been numbered 24 in the upper right-hand corner according to chronology and its order in the volume.

Brontë writes to Miss Wooler after spending a week with her in Hornsea. This letter appears to have been written during the period of absence when Arthur Bells Nicholls was employed in another parish, due to the strong objection Patrick Brontë made to his proposal of marriage to Brontë as she writes of Nicholls' replacements, such as the Reverend Dr William Cartman and Reverend William Fawcett, coming to preach in his stead. Brontë writes that her return journey was pleasant except for one incident, when a little girl threw up in her lap. Yet she was able to procure water and towel to clean herself up. She says her father is ‘well and cheerful’. The weather has 'taken a turn' and she wishes she were embarking with Miss Wooler on a walk in Hornsea in the fine weather. She asks Miss Wooler's opinions on two books she possibly left with her: Elizabeth Missing Sewell's 'The Experience of Life' and Thackeray's 'The Newcomes'.

A full edition of this letter can be found in Margaret Smith's 'The Letters of Charlotte Brontë', Vol. 3 (Oxford: Clarendon Press, 2004), p. 202-203.
[{"@link":
[{"@link":
[{"@link":
{"@link":
