The letter is 1 leaf (bifold) and mounted in the volume. The leaf has been numbered 27 in the upper right-hand corner according to chronology and its order in the volume. Brontë writes that the date of her wedding is still in 'a state of uncertainty' and that it may be in early July or even late June. She asks Miss Wooler to come to Haworth as soon as she possibly can, adding that her wish is shared by her father and Arthur Bells Nicholls. She is also coordinating with Ellen Nussey regarding Miss Wooler's visit. Nicholls has made 'such arrangements' to 'secure literal privacy' for Miss Wooler. The wedding attendees will include Miss Wooler, Ellen Nussey and Mr. Sowden, with Mr and Mrs Grant 'asked to the breakfast afterwards'. A pencil note has been added below this, 'Mr Donne & Shirley', by Ellen Nussey according to Professor Mildred Christian (Newcomb College, Tulane University) as noted in the typescript note of contents (Brontë(C)/37) enclosed with the volume. Brontë says she is becoming more familiar with Nicholls' character: 'I have not yet found him to lose with closer knowledge … He is always reliable, truthful, faithful, affectionate; a little unbending perhaps – but still persuadable – and open to kind influence’.
