<value>This letter is written from London, England. In this letter, Barrett Browning details the second abduction of Flush, whilst he was out walking with her sister Arabel. They have once again had to pay off the dog-thieves to guarantee Flush’s return, at a higher rate than the previous year. They have not dared to tell their father, who when he saw Barrett Browning only remarked: “What a bad headache you must have had! How ill you look! I do advise you not to write today.”

The date is provided by the postmark. The envelope for this letter is held by Eton College Library.

A transcript of this letter is available online via The Brownings' Correspondence Project, numbered 1741. It is also published in 'The Brownings' Correspondence' (Kansas: Wedgestone Press, 1991), vol. 9, pp. 192-194.</value>
