In this letter, Barrett Browning says she has given Miss Mitford an incorrect impression of Mr Hunter, saying that he has good qualities and Miss Mitford should forget what Barrett Browning has said. She discusses Balzac and Eugene Sue, with particular reference to the representation of enslavement in ‘Le Bananier’. She mentions a letter she has had from Mrs Taylor, who is 'the wife of the Anti Corn Law Taylor' who has requested Barrett Browning’s autograph for their Bazaar. She refused but regrets her refusal. She praises Richard Henry Horne’s ‘A Story Book of Country Scenes’ though she agrees with Miss Mitford that there is ‘nothing at all new in it’. She says she has a note from Horne and that he may return to England in April. She wants to know when she will see Miss Mitford again. She says that the current edition of ‘Poems’ is almost sold out; news happily given to her by Mr Kenyon.
