<value>This letter was written from Florence, Italy. Barrett Browning begins the letter by apologising that they have been busy with work. Robert Browning is having his poems transcribed by Isa Blagden. The weather in April in Florence is glorious and she is sorry to hear it is not the same in England. She refers to the Great Exhibition of 1851 and discusses prices in Paris. She says she cannot praise Sarianna and Robert Browning Senior's landlord for not raising their rent. She says it would have been 'abominable' for him to do so.

She mentions that Fanny Haworth is thinking of visiting Paris soon. At Sarianna's request, she lists Pen’s faults and mentions Elizabeth Wilson helping look after Pen. She says that ‘Robert & I moan in the most unpatriotic way you ever heard, Sarianna, about going to England’ however they need to meet Arabella. She also discusses Mary Trepsack ('Trippy') and her paranoia that she is being poisoned.

This is a fragment of a letter. The second part is held by Lilly Library. A transcript of this letter is available online via The Brownings' Correspondence Project numbered 3547. It is also published in 'The Brownings' Correspondence' (Kansas: Wedgestone Press, 2014), vol. 21, pp. 138–141.</value>
