I am the most rash, helter skelter & headlong of careless creatures\u2014but I am not arrogant or ungrateful .. no, nor inclined to be unaffectionate towards you. Forgive me therefore, & dont thrust back my book on me .. be gracious & accept it.\u2019. Barrett Browning says she is \u2018profundly vexed\u2019 at having not seen Haworth. She shares their travel plans: they are staying for Mrs Tennyson\u2019s child\u2019s christening then onward to Florence and Rome with Paris en-route (Sarianna Browning will go with them as far as Paris then she will remain with her father).
