In this letter, Barrett Browning tells Haworth not to speak of postage; as ‘exiles’ they are very pleased to get a letter and pay for it. She asks Howarth to write at length. Barrett Browning’s sister writes but she is not in the ‘gossip’, ‘literary’ or ‘magnetic circles’, unlike Haworth who is ‘near the fountains of life’. She is thankful to hear Haworth’s impressions of Colombe. Haworth has illustrated Barrett Browning’s poems but it is not possible to use these illustrations in the current edition which is with the printers, however perhaps in the future should the publisher agree, they can be used. Barrett Browning has had a happy winter in Florence, 'Pen' is well and they are friendly with Alfred Tennyson’s brother. Edward Lytton is also a visitor. She discusses spiritualism, Alexander Smith’s Poems, and says that even sceptical Sarianna has written of a seance where she does not believe any tricks were played.
