<value>This is a letter written from Florence, Italy. In this letter Barrett Browning speaks of Haworth’s travels and the fact she is gone to Rome. She also mentions a letter from Ruskin and sends her love to American acquaintances Hatty Hosmer and Mr Page. At the conclusion of the letter, she says Hume the medium is in great favour with Louis Napoleon. This is an incomplete fragment and ends with the sentence: 'He holds regular séances, & is very particular in excluding from the circle all sceptical persons.'

This letter has been transcribed in 'The Brownings' Correspondence', vol. 24, p 40–41. (Kansas: Wedgestone Press, 2016). It is transcribed online via The Brownings' Correspondence project, numbered 3980.</value>
