In this letter Barrett Browning asks Haworth not to tell her anything that is said about her for example by reviewers for she says it ‘tears her’. She asks Haworth not to mention it to Isa Blagden or in her future letters. Instead Barrett Browning asks Haworth to tell her about the spirits. She comments on Haworth’s travels and the weather and says that 'Pen' is ‘enchanted’ by Haworth’s letter and learning a little German. Barrett Browning says that Daniel Douglas Hume is back in Paris and says she mistrusts the medium more than the spirits. She sends both her and Robert Browning's good wishes: ‘Be gentle in your thoughts of poor Robert who means more affectionately than appears sometimes’.
