The 'villa party, augmented by Lytton' (referring to Annette Bracken and Isa Blagden) get along well and they visited to meet the younger Trollopes. She gives news of Blagden and Bracken. Barrett Browning is learning German, hearing Pen’s lessons and enjoying more leisure time than she has in a long time. She asks whether Haworth knows that Mrs Le Vert’s book is out (Souvenirs of Travel). Mrs Newton Crosland is in Florence chaperoning a young lady to whom she has promised never to speak of the spirits.
