<value>This is a letter written from Florence, Italy. Blagden is on her way to Italy from England. Barrett Browning warns against a route through Mount Cenis and the Alps. She says she herself suffered greatly taking this route. She invites Blagden to Florence. Their Rome plans are still in the air. Barrett Browning says she has been revived by Italian weather. She says Blagden has accepted an interesting charge in Louisa Alexander. She also says ‘If Charlotte Agassiz is not with you, I shall set her down as one more traitor to Italy– She would’nt come with us, .. would’nt come with you—somebody must be holding her in England.’

This letter has been transcribed in 'The Brownings' Correspondence', vol. 18, p. 292–293 (Kansas: Wedgestone Press, 2010). It is transcribed online via The Brownings' Correspondence project, numbered 3153.</value>
