Barrett Browning says she felt \u2018sad\u2019 to read Blagden\u2019s note on her medical treatment which has apparently caused her \u2018knee-cap\u2019 to be \u2018more out of place than it was\u2019. She asks how Dr Thomas Gerard Small accounts for such a \u2018damning fact\u2019. Robert Browning would have visited Blagden the previous day had he not been very unwell, however he will visit her on this day and \u2018when the weather lets [her] out\u2019 Barrett Browning will \u2018run to [Blagden] straight\u2019. She asks whether Blagden has anything to amuse her. Of Robert Lytton, she says: \u2018We heard yesterday from Lytton who has had a sore throat & sprained his ankle, the two causes detaining him for three weeks on his bed & sofa. So there\u2019s sympathy between you'.
