She discusses the weather in Pisa and Rome. They are very ‘relieved’ to have gotten a letter ‘about our dear old friend’ (Mary Trepsack) who is back ‘on her legs again’ and able to walk. She is afraid to send Pen to Blagden quite yet in case of infection. She is sorry to hear that ‘dear Lou’ (possibly a reference to Louisa Alexander) is unwell.
