Blagden appears to be unwell and Barrett Browning says \u2018You really cant keep your hands (or knees) from self-destruction!\u2019. Barrett Browning hopes to meet Blagden soon and says she is \u2018getting through\u2019 her own bout of weakness and illness. She notes she has Les Myst\u00e8res de Paris (5 vols., 1842\u201343), a novel by Eug\u00e8ne Sue. Though it is a struggle she tries to work on her poem in the mornings. Robert Browning is \u2018frantic about the Crimea\u2019 and she makes further comments on the war and the British Army policy of commission and promotion.
