Barrett Browning says they are in London and will still be there when Blagden passes through so she mustn't ignore them. They plan to go to Paris but with no fixed date. She mentions the cholera cases in Florence but also says that any place is better than London though the weather has been better. She happy to hear Dickens’ opinion on Blagden’s poem. She wonders why he didn’t publish them in Household Words but perhaps ‘too much of pepper for the milk-teeth of his most innocent public’. They met Foster and Macready for their anniversary dinner. She wants to know about the medium moving furniture in Foster’s presence but feels she is not on good enough terms with him to ask herself. She is anxious to hear the result of Hume’s trip to Italy. Robert Browning is close to the end of his work (Men and Women) and Blagden is to have a copy. Barrett Browning says her sister Arabel misses her and considers ‘eloping’ to London. She also comments on Sebastopol being 'taken'.

This letter has been transcribed in 'The Brownings' Correspondence', vol. 21, p. 271–273 (Kansas: Wedgestone Press, 2014).
