She wonders why he didn’t publish them in Household Words but perhaps ‘too much of pepper for the milk-teeth of his most innocent public’. They met Foster and Macready for their anniversary dinner. She wants to know about the medium moving furniture in Foster’s presence but feels she is not on good enough terms with him to ask herself. She is anxious to hear the result of Hume’s trip to Italy. Robert Browning is close to the end of his work (Men and Women) and Blagden is to have a copy. Barrett Browning says her sister Arabel misses her and considers ‘eloping’ to London.
