Barrett Browning praises Blagden’s poetry: ‘Your verses are extraordinary for newspaper poetry’ (this poem has not been traced however) ‘or are we flattered into the thought, I and Robert, by their great kindness?’. This is due to the poem being dedicated to the Brownings. She goes on to describe their rooms in Paris. She says ‘We shall have Dickens & his family almost opposite—and Lytton is in the next street which is of more consequence’ though Lytton has not visited her. She says perhaps he really is overwhelmed by work as he tells Robert Browning. She advises Blagden on rooms she can take in Paris. She asks if possible for extracts from the spiritualist James John Garth Wilkinson’s letter. He is someone Barrett Browning wishes to know. She provides an extract from Mrs Kinney's account of a seance. Daniel Douglas Home is staying with Nicholas Longworth Powers. She comments on the reviews of Robert Browning’s work, ‘He is much abused—but the largest admissions of his originality & power are made on all hands, & I think we have reason (considering the density of the world’s skulls) to be satisfied.’. She also says that Blagden is ‘naughty’ to still think of Madrid and they ‘must talk reason about’ that.

This letter has been transcribed in 'The Brownings' Correspondence', vol. 22, p. 26–28 (Kansas: Wedgestone Press, 2015).
