Barrett Browning says she was in an ‘agony of composition’ when she heard from Blagden. She is arranging for when Blagden can visit them. Barrett Browning is not ill ‘but weak’. She says Blagden is ‘very right not to come out with a sore throat’. She says she has ‘a good heritage’ in Dickens’ Barnaby Rudge which Harriet Hosmer brought with her from England for Barrett Browning. Regarding Barnaby Rudge, she says ‘Think of me never having read that book!– It slipped out of my life when I was very ill & very miserable—& here I find it.’.
