This is an fragmentary letter. Barrett Browning mentions a friend of Pen’s (Willie) whom she likes. She says she is interested in the ‘supposed spirit-manifestation' to Mrs Mackenzie and praises Frederick Tennyson. She tells Blagden not to ask the clairvoyants about her. Of her health, Barrett Browning says she was not very well but is recovered. Robert Browning has not been particularly well and he doesn’t have any amusement in Havre except shooting his pistol. Pen enjoys Havre most as he ‘swims’ and ‘grows’. She apologises for her dullness and says that Robert Browning will certainly ‘make amends for it’, presumably in his next letter to Blagden.
