<value>This is a letter written from Rome, Italy. Barrett Browning says Harriet Hosmer (Hatty) is visiting Florence. They (the Brownings) were cursing Blagden for leaving Casa Guidi however it seems she is happy with her guest, Theodore Parkes speaks very well of Hosmer. The day previous Barrett Browning was miserable but since receiving Blagden’s letter and ‘the Tuscan papers’ she has cheered up somewhat. She mentions news from Mr. Cartwright and comments on the Italian political situation. She also comments on the weather and her health (‘I am struggling for strength’) and mentions Dall’Ongaro.

This letter has been transcribed in 'The Brownings' Correspondence', vol. 27, pp. 204–207 (Kansas: Wedgestone Press, 2020). It is transcribed online via The Brownings' Correspondence project, numbered 4614.</value>
