She comments on the Italian political situation and says she cares ‘less for the attacks of the press on my book’ than for Blagden’s sympathy. She says: ‘Observe, Isa,—if there had been less violence & more generosity, the poems would obviously have been less deserved./The English were not always so thin-skinned'. She points to satires of Byron and Thomas Moore.
