She was only able to read Blagden\u2019s letters on the journey as she couldn\u2019t \u2018fasten [her] thoughts\u2019 to any of the books she brought with her. The journey was \u2018miserable\u2019. They are in a hotel now as they are not satisfied by any of the proposed apartments, Hatty (Harriet Hosmer) is in Rome but Barrett Browning does not wish to meet anybody right now.
