Robert Browning has finally written to Blagden (delayed due to \u2018entanglement in other things\u2019). He is not \u2018untouched by Agnes\u2019. He has also brought Saturday Review for Barrett Browning: the review of Agnes Tremorne is \u2018favourable\u2019. She says Blagden has had a \u2018decided success\u2019. She sends two translations for Dall\u2019Ongaro. Barrett Browning had earlier sent \u201cA View Across the Roman Campagna\u201d. She explains her style of translation and says they will be in Florence soon, \u2018I am rather stronger, but so weak still that my eyes dazzle to think of it\u2019. She continues \u2018I go to bed at eight on most nights. I\u2019m the rag of a Ba\u2013 Yet I am stronger, & look much so, it seems to me\u2013\u2019.\n\nShe says Mr Story \u2018is doing Robert\u2019s bust\u2019. Hatty (Harriet Hosmer) has also shown a design for a fountain for Lady Marion Alford. Mary Mackenzie\u2019s maid has been \u2018very ill\u2019 and needed to be \u2018bled\u2019. \u2018Mrs. M began to scream\u2019 and Barrett Browning expresses her disdain for \u2018all screaming creatures\u2019. Hans Christian Andersen has visited. Pen gets on with his Latin. They have taken no apartment. She asks for news of Sophie Cottrell, Hans Christian Anderson read some of his work at the Story's and Robert Browning also read his poem of the \u2018Rats\u2019 \u2018with great applause I hear\u2019.
