In this letter, Barrett Browning opens by discussing marriage, telling Haworth 'be sure of him first, and of yourself chiefly'. She also refers to Mr Kenyon. Barrett Browning says that Haworth is 'happily situated now' and she should consider this before marriage. She says 'to live out ... your individual life' can be 'hard to do in marriage'. She also says London is a better residence for Haworth than Wirttemberg. She returns to the topic of marriage, saying: 'The description sounds excellently—almost over-romantic though. Is there steadiness, do you think .. & depth—& reliableness altogether? What impression does he make among those who have known him longest? Dearest Fanny, do nothing in haste–'. She ends discussing a clock that Haworth wished them to purchase which they have not been able to. She asks whether Haworth will not ask Mrs Corkrane to obtain the watch for her instead.
