Three sides are hemmed with some fragmentary red stitching on the selvedge.  The sampler is organised in horizontal bands of stylized arcaded flowers, an inscription and detached motifs.  The inscription reads 'Mary Moyse look well to what yov take in hand for larning is better then house or land when land is gone and money is spent then larning is most excellent', 'Avgust the 11 1709 aged 13'.
