object type: Linen band sampler embroidered with polychrome silks in cross-stitch.  The top and bottom are finished with decorative buttonhole stitch and the sides have a pink selvedge. The top half of the sampler is organised into horizontal bands of seven alphabets and both stylised and naturalistic floral bands.  The bottom half contains detached naturalistic motifs of horses, a dog, small birds, flowers, chickens, a cockerel and wreaths.  Near the bottom, placed above the house motif and inscription reads 'Fanny Schenkelberg 1829'.
