    <value>Cotton sampler lined with cotton and embroidered with red and blue cotton thread in cross-stitch.  The sampler is made to resemble a bag and both sides are embroidered with detached motifs, flowerpots, sprays, buildings with perched birds, hearts and crowns, in a balanced arrangement either side of a windmill and flowering plant on the back and a flowerpot and flowering plant on the front.  On the centre front there is a wreath enclosing the inscription, which reads 'Sarah/Roberts/1845'.</value>
