The sampler is divided into horizontal bands and features repeat border patterns, detached motifs, an alphabet, numerals 1-10, and line edging border patterns in the upper section.  The lower section comprises more detached motifs including a dog, numerals, repeat border patterns, crowns and coronets, Roman numerals I-XII and a wreath with the initials 'EL'.
