All the edges are hemmed. There is a narrow cross-stitch border which goes all around the sampler. There are thirteen horizontal bands of inscription with various small detached motifs, narrow repeating border patterns, a flowerpot top left and right and a wider bottom band with a central flowering plant and a balanced arrangement of detached motifs.
