The sampler comprises three sections, framed and separated by a rosebud border. The top section includes four alphabets and two sets of numerals. The middle section has the verse' Jesus permit thy gracious name to stand/As the first efforts of an infants hand/And while her fingers on the canvas move/Engage her tender thoughts to see thy love/With thy dear children let her have a part/And mark thy name thyself upon her heart', worked which is has a flower, a tree and a flower pot on each side.
