The sampler depicts detached flower, tree, human, bird, animal and inanimate motifs, and inside frames in the centre, a naturalistic floral arrangement and the verse ' the rose have been washed just washed in/ A shower.  Which Mary to Anna convey/ed.  This plentiful moisture encumbered the/ flower. And weighed down its beautiful head/ The cup was all filled and the/ leaves were /all wet.  And it seems to A fanciful view/ to weep for the buds that had left with/ regret. on the flourishing bush were it grew/ Lucy Ann Norman/ March 1 1849'.
