object type: Sampler, wool, embroidered with polychrome silks in cross, satin, stem, chain, eyelet and running stitch.  A rosebud and leaf border frames the main body of the sampler which comprises the inscription 'O Lord enable me to know/ still more and more of thee/ and daily as I older grow/May christ my patron be' with symmetrically placed flower and bird motifs placed on either side of a large flower with three buds and a flower basket.  Near the bottom runs an embroidered green line of grass with a bird and 3 trees each side of a central, running deer.  Beneath this sits the inscription 'Mary Lee Mayle Aged 9 1842'.
