All around the edge of the cover, the hem is covered with buttonhole stitch worked solidly in brown.  Within this a border formed by repeats of cross-shapes is worked.  Similar bands divide the cover into eight vertical sections each filled by a band of repeat patterns formed by a leaf and tendril on a red background</value>
