object type: Double paper leaf, printed in black, painted in water-colours and gilt.  Sticks and guards of shaped and pierced bone (18+2), guards originally gilt.  Rivet with ivory washer.  Front:  In the centre, an altar surmounted by a lyre flanked by doves, with above 'Abanico de los Cortejos'.  On the left, a gentleman with a lady on each side, with above 'Con que  ayre y gusto marchan\Las Damas por el pasco, Acompanadas y viendo/En su abanico el Cortejo.'    On the right, a gentleman with a lady on each side, with above 'Este es el nuevo Abanico,/De la moda del Cortejo, Senoritas a comparlo,/Cavalleros a ofrecerlo.'  Border of kidney shapes, quatrefoils, ovals and dots in maroon and gold.  Reverse:  Undecorated.  Sticks and guards:  pierced by simple pointed and semi-circular shapes.
