object type: Black lacquered wooden brisé fan. Front and reverse sticks (19+2) show painted Chinese genre scenes.  Stick phinials are decorated with gold lacquer reliefs of alternating animals and floral sprays. The inner guards are also detailed in gold relief, with chinese dragons; the outer guards decorated with painted dragons of red and gold.  Red, silk ribbon.  Metal rivet?  The lower sticks (gorge) are decorated in gold lacquer.
