object type: Chinese feather fan.  Fan leaves of goose (?) feathers; the front painted with a central cartouche, decorated with a floral design and flanked with two, large floral sprays; the reverse painted with a butterfly and flower central design, also flanked with two, floral sprays.  Both sides are bordered with a delicate fern leaf garland.  The lower sticks (gorge) and guards are carved, pierced and gilt and the sticks are decorated with details of cloisonne (?) enamel in blue.
