object type: Applied mounts decorated with (in ascending order) 1) Quatrefoil with lattice; 2) four female figures in a garden setting with a pavilion, 3) scrolls in a cartouche, 4) a scrolling dragon, 5) ruyi head with scrolls; pins in the form of prunus flowers.  Stick: light hardwood with ivory finial.  Applied mounts and centre stick front; ivory carved and pierced.  Top clip: pressed horn.  Centre stick, reverse: stripe grained hardwood.  Pins: tarnished silver.  Rim: cane covered in brown and ochre coarse fabric.  Face:  palm leaves, varnished, inscribed in ink on the reverse: san ide er chi (no. 2 of the three virtues).
