The front is painted below the spout with the monogram RT or RJ, flanked by curved sprays of mixed flowers and foliage, each with earsof barley at the top. On each side there is a large bouquet of mixed flowers, with a leaf a little distance above it, and below a small spray of purple flowers. Below the handle there is a medium-sized bouquet of small flowers. The top and back of the handle is decorated with five red shells, and green weed or moss. Round the bottom end of the handle thee is a trompe l’oeil red ribbon tied in a bow, and over the top of the upper end, is a red ribbon which dangles down on each side.
